Mixing and Mastering Gouache
9:00 am in-person meeting followed by presentation. Learn how to properly mix gouache for calligraphy, from achieving the ideal consistency to selecting the right pigments and tools. We'll explore tips for mixing, loading your pen and maintaining flow. Whether you're using it for lettering or adding colorful accents to your work, this session will give you the confidence to incorporate gouache into your creative toolkit. Gouache and small mixing jars will be provided and participants will be able to take home their own mixed sample. Plan to stay longer if you wish to work. Materials needed: Bring paper scraps, pipette, 6-well palette, small brush for mixing, your favorite pens, and possible quote.

Weathergram Workday
In-Person Meeting 9:00am, followed by presentation. Welcome back to a new season of calligraphy and Guild activities! Enjoy catching up with one another while you take the opportunity to complete your Weathergram Challenge for our 45th Anniversary. Kraft paper strips and ribbons will be provided. Bring your own lettering supplies and quotes. Some finished weathergrams will be on display for browsing and inspiration.
In this hands-on workshop, taught by member Anne Marie Castelgrande, we’ll explore traditional and modern marbling techniques using acrylic paints, water thickened with carrageenan, and alum-treated paper. Participants will use combs, rakes, whisks, and other tools to manipulate the floating paint and create beautiful designs such as the Peacock, Chevron, stone marble, and more. Everyone will leave with several unique sheets of marbled paper, perfect for notecards, bookmarks, bookbinding, or small gift bags.

Ornamental Paper Stars
9:00 am in-person meeting followed by presentation. Bring your enthusiasm and a love for paper crafts. Learn how to create two unique star ornaments—perfect for holiday décor, and handmade gifts. Follow along step by step in folding and assembling two different ornaments, and explore ways to incorporate your calligraphy. Paper will be provided. Just bring, scissors, glue stick or tape runner, and your simple calligraphy tools such as markers or parallel pens.
